It’s amazing how we find the topic of migration everywhere in society nowadays. We could say it has become a hot topic, specially since the crisis shaked the structure of England's economic wellbeing a couple of years ago. However, it seems we always tend to find the same kind of people talking from the same public stages.
In Migrant Voice we know there are other ways of debating and listening to others. Even if it sometimes seems quiet out there, there are plenty of people wanting to speak out, listen to our stories and transform things. Vibrant people with concerns and enthusiasm ready to hear our voices.
Yesterday we found some of these determined and fascinating people that are ready to change things. People that you wouldn’t find sitting in the usual stage, talking face to face and eager to listen to anyone willing to speak. A warm place under the railways, full of energy, where everybody is free and welcome to join the discussion anytime. Another and very interactive way of performing a debate.
What we enjoyed most was the interest of everyone participating, the need to understand. The openness in the speech, the frankness and the welcoming feeling. The evening gave us time to speak about many different issues covering topics related to migration that usually concern everybody: racism, education, economy, isolation, labour, politicians, hostility, censorship, etc. But there was also time for our achievements and the ways to make things better. It was a great experience where fear to speak public was not present, where respect for others was real. Our voices have their own space out there, everywhere. Time is waiting for us to speak out loud and tell our point of view. Migrant Voice finds the right platforms and places to be heard and is ready to raise our voices, making sure no one is left behind. Come and join us.
